WAIALAE
IKI RIDGE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
Board of Directors' Meeting
September 20, 2005
Waialae Country Club
- President Janice
Wright called the meeting to order at 4:38pm.
- The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously
approved, as written.
- Joann Allin reported that the next newsletter is expected to be
published at the end of the first week of October.
- A prolonged discussion occurred, regarding "the house at the
bottom of the hill". It was concluded that, despite everyone's
concerns, there is no legal action that this Board can take.
- David Andrew introduced Helen MacNeil, who is expected to become
a new Board member for calendar year 2006.
- President Wright noted that a few more dues-paying residents have
joined, and that efforts to solicit dues are concluded for this year.
- There was a discussion regarding putting a visual of the view channels
and the view planes on the WIRCA website. It was decided to do this,
to make that information available to all residents and prospective
residents.
- Ginger Plasch reported that there had been one burglary since the
last meeting, and that there had been three attempted burglaries,
which were foiled. She is gathering statistics regarding crimes in
nearby neighborhoods, and will report on that.
- President Wright reminded that the Annual Meeting and Dinner will
be November 9, at Waialae Country Club. There will be no speaker,
to allow the event to be more social, with residents meeting their
neighbors.
- There was a request from Philip Ching, that he be reimbursed, in
the mount of $561.92, for expenses incurred by him for repairing the
sprinkler system in Laukahi Slopes Park. The Board voted to deny this
request, based on the observation that the Ching family had gone through
the legal process of "adopting" that portion of the park.
The Board was concerned about setting a precedent for reimbursing
residents for expenses they incurred without asking the Board prior
to the fact.
- There was a review of WIRCA financial data, through July 1, 2005.
The numbers are positive, and the Association is in the black.
- The percentage of households that are dues-paying is the highest
ever.
- President Wright reviewed a letter prepared by Jim Sattler, to be
used with residents who have complaints about neighbors. The letter
will be revised, to make it less packed with "legalese".
The meeting was adjourned at 5:55PM
Respectfully submitted,
Kelly O'Neill, Secretary
