Board of Directors' Meeting
July 15, 2008

Board members
present:
Carmen Hagloch, President; Joann Allin; Donna Ashley; Steve Camara,
Judy Fadrowsky; Marilyn Haine; Lisa Iwata; Sandra Kingery; Shirley
Kollmeyer; Roger Liu; Helen MacNeil; John Michalski; Nate Sparks.
Board members
absent or excused: David Andrew, Michael Bianco, Fay Jones, Michelle
Schneider, Janice Wright.
Call to Order:
- President C.
Hagloch called the meeting to order at 4:30pm.
Announcements:
- President C.
Hagloch introduced new Board member Steve Camara.
Approval of
Minutes:
Minutes of the May 20, 2008 meeting were approved as distributed and
will be posted on the website.
Treasurer’s
Report:
- The Treasurer's
report was distributed and presented by R. Liu. Questions were asked
and answered. R. Liu recommended that WIRCA place a specified amount
in a 6 month CD. There was a motion, second and unanimous vote to
approve the recommendation.
Committee Reports:
Nominating Committee
- C. Hagloch deferred discussion related to reducing Board size to
18 members until chair D. Andrew returns.
Newsletter -
J. Allin reported the newsletter went out recently. She would like
articles and annual meeting flyer in to her by mid September for the
next newsletter that is scheduled to go out by early October 2008.
Need to have article regarding new curbside recycling which begins
in November 2008.
Membership Dues
- C. Hagloch reported list of members continues to be updated and
published in the newsletter. With a goal of updating membership records
a membership questionnaire form was included in the last newsletter.
Decals - S. Kingery reported she continues to send out decals upon request.
Website - J. Fadrowsky to fulfill request to place WIRCA address on the webpage.
Streets and Sidewalks
– L. Iwata reported that security guards tell her when they notice
sidewalks or streets in need of repair. Community should continue
to call in pothole reports. They are currently being fixed when reported.
Pothole report line is on the www.wirca.org website.
Information Dissemination
– H. MacNeil reported she has had 3 - 4 calls regarding advice on view channels.
Security – C.
Hagloch attended a Neighborhood Watch meeting for M. Bianco to determine
if this would be appropriate for the WIRCA community. Will discuss
when M. Bianco returns. E-mails continue to go out to members regarding
any security issues.
Database – N.
Sparks and C. Hagloch reported they are continuing to gather information
and update the database.
Public Affairs
and Liaison to Neighborhood Board – No Report.
Social - S. Kingery reported a Board social gathering is being planned. Details next meeting.
Bylaws and Parliamentary
Procedure – No report.
Traffic Calming
– C. Hagloch reported she is looking for a new chair. "Slow Down" signs continue to be moved on major streets in Waialae Iki.
Zone Captains
– No report. J. Fadrowsky reported she received an e-mail that suggested
the Zone Captain role be reviewed in light of its importance to the
community. Tabled until Chair F. Jones returns next meeting.
Temporary Committees
- C. Hagloch reported that there are three temporary committees:
- Parks - Chair
N. Sparks reports that Waialae Iki Park playground and courts
have been resurfaced. Currently working on having trees trimmed
in Laukahi Slopes Park.
- Accidents
on Hill - Chair N. Sparks is monitoring amount of accidents on
the hill.
- Cleaning
Up Properties - Chair J. Wright will pursue remedies for unkempt
properties.
