WAIALAE
IKI RIDGE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
Board of Directors' Meeting
November 8, 2006
Call to Order:
- President Judy
Fadrowsky called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.
Treasurers
Report:
- President Fadrowsky
delivered the Treasurer’s Report for Roger Liu, Treasurer.
Committee Reports:
President Fadrowsky
thanked WIRCA Board members and officers for taking on committee/officer
tasks. A report of their accomplishments follows.
- Newsletter –
Joann Allin put out 3 newsletters this year, each taking 6 weeks to
assemble, format, proof, print and distribute.
- Nominating Committee
- David
Andrew reported that Diana Snyder, Victor Lim and Lino Vicente resigned
from the Board during the past year. Board members who have replaced
them are Fay Jones, Mike Bianco and Jim Okey. 7 members of the Board
have agreed to serve a new 3 year term. They are: Donna Ashley, David
Andrew, Lisa Iwata, Sandra Kingery, Shirley Kollmeyer, Roger Liu,
and Jane Katayama. The motion to approve this slate of candidates
was made, seconded and approved.
- Membership Dues
President Fadrowsky reported for Donna Ashley, that for the second
year in a row, WIRCA membership has hit 80% of Waialae Iki residents.
Given that membership is voluntary, this was a great achievement.
- Decals
Sandi Kingery is responsible for sending out WIRCA car decals. We
plan to keep this year’s navy blue color until further notice.
- Web Page
Carmen Hagloch has updated the website, including a new map of the
hill. She encouraged members to visit www.wirca.org.
- Information
Dissemination
Helen MacNeil reported that there were 18 inquiries year-to-date regarding
renovations (7), view channels (6), and obstructed views (5). The
biggest concerns expressed by homeowners are trees and 2nd story additions
blocking views. She also reported on a recent meeting with real estate
attorney, Bill Burns, to review materials drafted to respond to inquiries
on covenants and building restrictions on the hill.
- Security
Ginger Plasch reported that there have been no car break-ins, thefts,
or burglaries on the hill since early April. This is a record number
of months without an incident. She attributes this to our conscientious
security patrol, heightened care being taken by our residents, the
presence of HPD in East Honolulu ticketing speeders, and generally
lower crime levels throughout East Honolulu.
- Database
Nate Sparks serves as back-up for database management, performed
by Ginger Plasch.
- Public Affairs
and Liaison to Neighborhood Board
Jack Schneider attends our Neighborhood Board meetings and reports
back issues of interest.
- Social
Sandi Kingery and Fay Jones serve as social chairs.
- Zone Captains
Marilyn Haine and Jim Okey are responsible for our Zone Captains.
They arranged for a “Thank You” luncheon in August. There are currently
5 zones without zone captains. Volunteers would be appreciated.
- Bylaws and Parliamentary
Procedure – Janice Wright oversees changes or updates to WIRCA Bylaws,
which are on the website.
- Traffic Calming
Carmen Hagloch has been very creative in educating the community through
speed signs and newsletter articles.
- Streets and
Sidewalks
Lisa Iwata has inspected every street in our subdivision for unsafe
potholes/road conditions, and followed up with reports to the city.
Resurfacing of Laukahi St. is not scheduled before 2008.
- President Fadrowsky
thanked Mike Bianco and Shirley Kollmeyer, who helped with special
projects.
New Business:
- In response to
a question from the membership regarding the house on the right hand
corner at the bottom of the hill, President Fadrowsky reported that
Barbara Marumoto is working with the state to deliver trees and ground
cover to plant on the corner outside the CMU rock wall. Various homeowners
have volunteered to help plant and maintain the plantings.
President Fadrowsky
adjourned the meeting at 8:00pm.
Respectfully
Submitted,
Helen MacNeil, Secretary
